Catherine “Cat” Luke REVN

"Cat" joined the clinic in November 2008 with a view to starting the 2 year EVN training course in 2009. Her main clinical interests are in the intensive care nursing and diagnostic imaging. Cat is keen to develop the skills and knowledge she gained in her previous position at another large equine hospital and became qualified in October 2011 as a REVN.  When not working, any left-over energy is taken up exercising her very enthusiastic Spaniel on long walks.

Lucy Joined the Clinic in February 2008 and passed the 2 year Equine Veterinary Nursing (EVN) Course in August 2010, she was our first home-grown EVN. Lucy is also a clinical coach. After doing A-levels, Lucy qualified with NVQ level 1 from the Northern Racing College and spent 3 years in racing before coming to the practice as well as working in a bookmaker’s and as a riding Instructor.

Emma Tolliday Nursing Assistant

Emma worked for five years in Racing, including a successful period as an apprentice jockey in Canada, as well as a time in sales and recruitment, prior to joining the clinic. Emma will start her EVN nurse training course in September 2011 and has aspirations towards the Diploma in advanced Nursing after that.

Emma is no stranger to success, having enjoyed plenty in Endurance racing but now she shares her spare time between the Dog, Horse, Gym and Husband.

Abbie Knowlson J-SQP & Nursing Assistant

I joined the practice in May 2011 Achieved my J-SQP in October 2011, I am enjoying working in different areas of the practice. I have an ex race horse of which I rode in a point to point. Past employment working on a stud farm, hunting yards and also in sales! Various hobbies including breeding Gloucester Old Spot pigs, and walking my Terrier Guiness.

Nicola Wright Nursing Assistant

Nicola has joined us as an equine nursing assistant and will be going onto do her equine nurse training at Myerscough later in the year. Nicola re-located to York from  Brighton and worked for the British Racing School in Newmarket as a yard assessor for the last five years. Prior to that she was a sucessful jockey in Canada.
