Why should you have an Equine Health Plan?
We believe that a proactive, preventative approach to your horse's healthcare is far better than waiting until your horse is vulnerable, ill or suffering to put things right. That's why we have designed an Equine Health Plan. Our healthcare plans are £9.34 a month, which means you can spread the cost of your preventative health care throughout the year. It also gives you access to discounts on other products and services available from our practice. Here we've answered some of the questions clients have been asking:
What is preventative healthcare?
This includes annual vaccinations, dental checks, teeth rasping and faecal worm egg counts– costs that aren't always considered by owners when buying or rescuing a horse. Did you know that very few insurance companies will help cover costs of preventative health care? Regular health checks from vets or nurses mean that illnesses can be picked up earlier and and can be readily treated.
It’s important because:
- More horses will be free of parasites which can be harmful to the animal.
- Horses are better protected against diseases which are increasingly common.
- Owners can relax and enjoy their horse knowing they have done everything to prevent the preventable.
- Both owner and veterinary staff are involved in making sure your horse is happy and healthy all year round.
Why health plans work
Equine Health Plans allow you to budget for your horse’s preventative healthcare. They are not an insurance policy but are designed to work alongside your current equine insurance. In fact, a monthly fee for healthcare plus good insurance means all your horses’s healthcare and wellness requirements are covered. An added bonus is that our plan includes discounts on microchipping, blood tests, dental sedation costs, out of hours visits and long term medication.
