Flea Prevention
Many pets will get fleas at one time or another. During summer months fleas are commonly picked up outside the home. Fleas are carried by other animals including other dogs and cats and frequently by hedgehogs, foxes and rabbits etc.
Once your pet brings a flea into your house, it lays hundreds of eggs on its bedding and in your house. These can persist for a long time before hatching into hundreds more fleas. Fleas are a household problem, as much as a problem for your pet. They may cause flea bite reactions, irritation and skin rashes in your pet as well as biting some people. Often there is no outward sign of mild infestations, and once you notice a problem it is usually severe.
Prevention is definitely the best option with fleas by using regular effective household and pet treatments.
We recommend regular treatment of your pet with Frontline combo Spot-on, at least every 5 weeks in cats and 2 months in dogs. Frontline combo helps provide a degree of household flea control.
For additional household flea control spray your house and pet’s bedding once a year with Acclaim household spray.
If you vacuum the house first, you will pick up many flea larvae and eggs which live in soft furnishings. Throw away your vacuum cleaner bag and replace it.
Spray all round the house thoroughly, ensuring you read the directions on the can.
Also spray the vacuum cleaner brushes and inside the canister or bag to killany fleas there.
