Nutritional Advice
Worryingly, the vet is often the last person to be consulted when asking for feeding advice. We recommend foods solely on the basis of their health benefits for your pet. Did you know how many common medical conditions can be prevented or treated with correct diet?
• joint problems such as hip and elbow dysplasia
• dental disease
• allergic skin disease
• digestive disturbances
• kidney disease
• bladder stones and cystitis
• and many more
Feeding your dog or cat
We recommend Hill’s pet foods as their formulations are constantly updated to ensure the optimum health of your pet.
Hill's diets are complete and lifestage dependent so that the nutrition is tailored to the age of your pet and his or her exact requirements.
Hill's diets are fixed formulation which means that ingredients are constant between batches and bags. With many other foods, each tin may have different ingredients which is a common cause of digestive upsets.
There are specific prescription diets available for all conceivable medical problems. If your pet is already accustomed to Hill’s food, the change to oneof these prescription diets is simplified.
Feeding your rabbit or guinea pig
Rabbits and guinea pigs commonly suffer from dental disease and digestive problems due to poor diet. Most pet shop diets consist of multiple grain types which allow your pet to be very selective with its feeding. They tend to prefer the more energy dense parts of the diet which upset their digestion and are deficient in calcium. In truth they should eat mostly hay, but with very small amounts of concentrate food.
We advise provision of ad lib hay or grass and limited quantities of Supa rabbit or Supa Guinea. Guinea pigs require high levels of Vitamin C so if feeding both rabbits and guinea pigs together they are better off with the Supa Guinea to share.
